Hey jamon8 sorry to high jack your thread but I was wodnering if you could help me. I made the mistake of trying to play around with my s15 and ended up not wanting to sell it so now I'm trying to fix it.

My problem seems to be the fuel pump. What happened was originally the hose on the sending unit ended up breaking so no fuel could get to the motor and when i replaced that it i had trouble getting power to the pump for some reason but after splicing some wires it worked till about a month later when i turned on the headlights one night and the truck died. I was able to start it by turning it on and driving a head then i was able to turn the head lights on and keep it going.

The truck ended up killing the battery on me and eventually wouldn't start. I changed the altenator to one of a 4.3 or 4.6 90 cav. It didn't fit but the harness bolted into it. It semed that altenator wasn;t wokring either so i factored out the altenator as the problem.

Yester day i put a small bit of gas in the carb to try to prime it and the truck turned over and started for about 10 seconds as long as i reved it. It ended up back fireing and cause a small fire in the carb but the wires were fine and it wasn't anything bigger than like a birthday cake candle on fire.

Could you help me find out what the problem could be?

having to splice into the wiring harness for the fuel pump is a bad situation

I would go back to your repair and see if it has held up and find out why your car dies when you turn the headlights on

sounds like you have a draw on your battery and it happened after your attempt to fix the fuel pump

any more progress on the truck?
