It most likely a targetMaster 4 bolt 350 which after a crank polish and new bearings it should be a good SBC.. it would make a nice builder...

Thats a good deal for $100. ou could find a good cast crank cheap or go with a stroker crank and still not break the bank.

For that money it would be worth it! Go check it out and see if it has a ridge at top of the cylinders. If it don't just take it apart and run a ball hone and clean up the cylinders. Re-ring the pistons and pick up a crank kit at a local parts store. You could do it on the cheap and have a decent performing engine.

I'm seriously thinking about buying this. A little comprehensive considering Ive never built an engine but I think it would be a good start. What do you think?

Just playing the Devil's Advocate: I don't know your mechanical capabilities but there are alot of precession measurements that need to be made in the process of building an engine. I did ALOT of research before I realized doing a build was out of my league. I'm not too proud to admit I opted for a crate engine.

Before you jump on buying a block do ALOT of homework....

Thanks alot for your input, If its still available Im going to look at it next week. <Mike> I know that there is alot that comes into play when building an engine, thanks for the warning though. I know alot of people who have built engines and I have been doing alot of reading. I wanna take my time and be sure I do it right.

Cool > Start a thread if it goes down!

The ad says it spun a main bearing, so a new crank and line hone will be needed at minimum, at least if it was my engine it would. The price is right just go in knowing that you will need to do more than a re-ring job. I would buy it.

I plan on getting the block line honed and possibly have the block decked, not sure yet. If I get it I will be replacing all of the internals componants bearing, pistons, rings etc. And I also wanna magnaflux the block If I buy it.

The more I think about this the more I realize that it's exactly how my build started out. I bought a stock 454 with a spun bearing. I planned on building a 461 or 468 (454 bored .030 or .060 over) with a new stock replacement crank. 6 months later and now the build is a 496 stroker. I did the math and added up the cost of new stock replacement crank and rods then compared it to new stroker crank and forged rods. I ended up paying just a little more for the stroker setup but now I have alot more cubes 8)
