1987 Monte Carlo, Upgrading the stock stuff to the Blazer upgrade setup. I'm going to use the Belltech 2102 Drop spindles for a 2wd blazer, But when I go to get front rotors at summit, the 2wd ones look like the type with studs that use a spindle and you have to pack bearings into (stock). 4wd ones look right.

Anyone have some Summit links to the bearings, calipers, dust shields and rotors I need? I tried searching, but didn't find much reference to anything besides the actual spindle. Just looking for the standard stuff, no cross drilled.

Thanks

You might not be getting the right year/model? I pulled spindles off of a 2000 blazer at the salvage yard. Went to Oreilly's and bought stock calipers/brackets for the same model year and Hawks performance pads/rotors for the same model year off eBay. Everything fit perfect. These spindles have a sealed bearing design so you don't repack then like the monte

Everything I bought was for a 2000 2wd blazer, but any 2wd blazer or jimmy(same parts) from 99-03 will work. Hope that helps

The Belltech spindles are the traditional type of spindle with the shaft that sticks out plus separate wheel bearings that you pack with grease and assemble. The 'Blazer upgrade' everyone talks about uses a 'knucke' and a unitized 'hub/bearing assembly' that bolts onto the knuckle. The Belltech spindle is the former style and guess what? Your 1987 Monte Carlo rotor/hub assemblies, bearings and calipers will assemble onto the Belltechs. This is a not a 'brake upgrade', this is a 'suspension lowering' upgrade. The 'Blazer upgrade' updates the G-body technology to the newer packaged hub/bearing assembly that allows use of bigger Camaro and Corvette rotors and calipers with only an adapter plate. Bigger diameter = more clamping surface = stronger braking = upgrade. If you want to keep the Belltechs, you need to obtain some hubs without the rotors (aftermarket or cut-off OEMs), and adapter plates (I'm sure they are out there, but I don't know sources. The 'Blazer brake upgrade' does not in itself lower the car.

It is possible to buy drop spindles for a 2000 2wd Blazer, which are 'hubless' knuckles. Also, the stock 2000 2wd Blazer brake setup is an upgrade over the stock G Body front brakes since the Blazer uses a slightly larger rotor, has two piston calipers and a longer swept area brake pad.

Ditch those belltech drop spindles if you want to upgrade the brakes and get junkyard spindles. 2" drop is pretty easy to obtain with tall lower ball joints and stiffer, shorter springs. The combination of these will provide more than a cosmetic lowering of the car, they will improve the handling over softly sprung lowering spindles.

I wanted to maintain a more "stock like" ride with the drop spindles and avoid stiffer lowing springs. I'm also going with the Moog "problem solver" upper control arms. The drop spindles are a bit more expensive, but I don't want to regret it later as I don't care for most lowering springs.

This is a 4wd Blazer rotor, it LOOKS correct

This is a rwd Blazer rotor, same year. Looks incorrect (for the self contained front hubs I want to go to)

Thank you for the link. I was thinking the info or pics were wrong, But I've only owned the car 2 days, so it's all new!

Belltech spindle will increase your track width anywhere from a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch.

It is something they don't tell you but if you call them they will admit it.
