Pull my 88 Cutlass out of storage for the first time since last year, go to the gas station and fill up the tires and put a few gallons in and notice my plates are expired by litterally 20 days. I'm thinking oh great I've got 4 blocks to go back to the garage and I bet I'll get pulled over, had the car litterally in daylight for 10 minutes... Low an behold a cop in the on comming turn lane busts a U and pulls me over, doesn't even have time to notice my plates are expired.
All he says was that my plates were expired, how did he know prior to getting behind me? My truck has had expired plates since January and I've never been stopped...
Profiling *ssh*les is what it is.
I've been pulled over in my Cutlasses litterally around 75 times, no joke and have lost my license when I was younger twice for tickets going 8 over, 10 over and never had one for going over 15mph and had even gotten pulled over while cars were passing me going faster.
I was keeping count around 5 years ago and was up to 53 and everytime I get pulled over its for some stupid reason.
I had one cop in Lake Zurich, the DUI Officer McGannon say to me that he thought I was a Mexican on time.
What a piece of Sh*t...
Anyone a cop here? Whats the deal?
Any recommendations for addressing this issue, I litterally feel uncomfortable evertime I see a police officer while driving because of this.

unfortunetly theres nothing we can do as long as u drive that type of car(gang members car) they will pull u over.. trust ive been thru the same situation as u but for some odd reason they never give me a ticket and ive been pulled over for cracked windshields registration not bein in my lane even one cop pulled me over for switchin lanes 50 ft before a intersection :wtf: but its legal to cross lane in the intersection!!! i just laught at them!

Not issue here thank fully . No gangs , if there were the red necks would take care of them .

But other than load exhaust a G body here would be last car they pull over ,. Now a honda with a teenie bopper . in a minute .

But every time I used to go to city I got pulled over in my trucks . for dumb stuff.

A college parking pass really does change the officer's perspective of who is driving lol.
LAPD UC even said, " oh,so you're a good guy" after he pulled me over and noticed my parking pass.

I get pulled over quite a bit in the Regal. I seriously considering not having it tinted because I think it'll just become worse

Well I am a Police Officer and have a few comments about this.....If I piss off some members, I really don't care cuz you will get over it and if not, I'll sleep quite fine. First of all I really doubt you ever got pulled over for 8 or 10 mph over the limit and if you ever got a ticket for 8 or 10 over you probably got a roadside reduction and were actually stoped for going 18 or 20 over the limit....We Road Patrol guys have a 15 mph rule...meaning if your going 68 in a 55 your good, soon as you hit 70 your good to stop. Now when I was on the DWI unit, that's another story...12 your fine and 13 your mine.. Have you ever heard of a LPR? It stands for a License Plate Reader, they are poping up in every municipality these days and are connected to the TraCs UTT/MVA systems in the computer..What happens,is if someone with a suspended, expired regiatration, stolen tags, stolen vehilce..etc drives by one of these LPR equipped Patrol cars the Officer automatically gets a hit on the car and thus his evasive action to pull your *ss over....So with your other vehicle, your lucky and on borrowed time. Instead of bitching about the cops, man up and admit you are the one and made the mistake and drove your car ILLEGALLY!!! And as far as our cars being "Gang Cars".....Come on now!!! And I can tell you for sure if I pull over a violator and they laugh at me...That's a instant ticket..Get a grip...Remember when your on the side of the road getting your *ss handed to you, It's the brave men and women in blue coming your way to help you.. We get paid to protect your *ss, not kiss it!!!!

x2! And why would you drive a car that had expired plates??? Not trying to be a dick but thats just one more target on your back. I have been driving my car with no speedometer for 2 years now and I have NEVER been pulled over because I stay on top of maintnance like tags, insurance, and making sure all my lights are operating correctly. JMO . . .

There is a difference between getting pulled over for something you did, and getting pulled over unfairly and then getting ticked for something you did.
Here in LA a black guy filed profiling charges against LAPD because he got pulled over for no front license plate even though the cop was never infront of him. he got arrested (warrant) and guess what, BAM . he got a BIG AZZ settlement.

I have the upmost respect for all law enforcement officials, being prior military myself. But police officers are just as human as every other U.S. citizen and they act like they are better and can't be touched. There are plenty of officers out there that could humble themselves a bit

I was pulled over by an unmarked Dodge Durango while smoking a cigarette, the officer (dressed in normal civilian clothes) comes up to my car and tells me to hand him the joint :? After I showed him my cigarette and then my license (along with my military ID) he appoligized and told me to have a good day. Do you think my Regal had anything to do with his decision to pull me over :?:

I've driven my malibu in both Maine and Texas. The northern states are incredibly strict against older vehicles because were loud and pollute, supposedly. I was pulled over by 7 squad cars at once because they didn't know what the number 56 meant on my antique plates in the top right corner. I was thinking "it took 7 squad cars to ask me that?" BTW the number 56 on my plate was the county number in mississippi as my antique plates are lifetime and good till 2099. No longer requre inspection and I've had to contact multiple states to verify that I do not need to swap plates.

The teens up there loved me cause no one had rust free muscle cars and thought it was the ultimate sign of rebellion from the south lol. That and it had a circle cam at the time since it was a freebie part.

Now down here in san antonio, even the cops are hot rodders. I've been pulled over once by SAPD and the guy said "You were going 75 in a 70, but if I were in a car like this, I probably would have been going faster". He simply asked me to be careful because he had been catching a lot of import racers being reckless and thought I may have been with them. The cops down here are happier to see a kid my age driving classic muscle rather than prosecute me cause there are simpler tons more hondas and ricers going about causing trouble. I got caught at a ricer meet, and I was the only muscle car, and the cops pulled a raid on us. Four out of the eight cops walked up to me and were like "Pat? Wtf are you doing with these losers?". I explained to them that the ricer kids were the only ones that met up in the middle of the week while the older guys, like themselves, didn't meet up till the weekends. And I felt like representing muscle. They let me go with no trouble at all.

It all depends on where your at. Yeah they're gonna profile cause mexicans do love their g-bodies, and I can personally say that as I'm in a primarily hispanic area. Gangs are known to drive them so unfortunately were stuck with that stereotype. That's one of the reasons why I did my malibu the way it is because I knew if I gave it a good "old school vintage" look, the cops wouldn't be so tempted to pull me over as if I had painted it black primer.

Now I'm working on going into the Navy as an officer and later going into law enforcement with my criminal justice degree. When it comes to being a police officer, you have to stereotype and profile to a certain extent. The second your not careful, your a deadman. Now I have met my fair share of bad cops that were just real pricks for no reason (ie my antique license plates). One issue that has been trying to get resolved here in Texas is small municipalities that have been handing out tickets in order to gain revenues. And unfortunately, it has caused police officers to be labeled "the state revenue collector".
