back to work again. today I started scratching all that underbody protection stuff off they put on here in Germany. It helps against rust in winter with all that salt and stuff on streets..

took me the whole day to do that sh*t omg and still not finished with that sh*tty underbody protection cr*p. friggin hard chewy stuff! anyways hopefully I can bring the frame next week to the sandblaster where I'll blast that thing..

Ach die lieber. Nice photo shop work. I like the vintage '59/'60 dash. And the matching '59 steering wheel will look very sharp. Those steering wheels were popular in many early custom cars.
Nice seats. Very racy with the side bolstering.

As for the rear frame rails. You can contact :

I had the link to his website, but can't seem to find it at the moment. He makes top quality rear frame rails for G-body cars.

Gonna be a nice project.

Could you please give some detail as how you made the car dolly to hold up the Mote ?

Was it made of wood or metal ?

I've had my 79' Bu setting on the frame for about 10 years with the body to frame bolts out,but would love to have a dolly like in the pictures, looks great !

was made of wood. kinda very easy to do. its just a dolly to "hold" the body while working on the chassis.

Thx! Yeah I already knew him/his page and think will order a set.

so yesterday I scraped off the rest of the undercoating stuff and found some ugly stuff:

One of the pre owners did some "repairs" and covered with bondo and undercoating. well I think I have to replace that section.

Fortunately the rest of the frame is good and only needs to be boxed and some rewelding of the factory welds.

Anyways I'll sandblast the frame this week, finally! Next weekend I'll test fit my rear wheels (18x9.5 with 295/35) and will see how much work need to do on notching rear frame section.

That is pretty ugly. But on a positive note, the body is off the frame, allowing better access to make the necessary repairs.
Keep up the good work. We're all here to cheer you on. 🙂

:wtf: is that a tow hook welded on there? I have replaced frame rails before on the car! It's a b*tch on the car but with the body off it should be pretty easy. I bought some original ones off ebay from some guy in California. They were a little cheaper than the Canadian guy's. I drilled two 1/2" holes on each side of the rail. So that's 8 holes per frame rail. Got some sheet metal the same thickness as the frame rail and cut 4 pieces to slide inside it. Plug welded the inserts through the 1/2" holes. This created a "sleeve". Drilled more 1/2" holes on the frame on the car. Slide new section inside the old part of the frame. Finished plug welding and the welded up the seam and ground smooth. Probably stronger than original. The sleeve helped hold it in place while welding it too!!

Thanks for the reply.Your idea was what I needed to plan a dolly for my Bu.

My right rear frame rail was so bad I twisted it off with my hands  .

Got a donor 85' Turbo T-Type frame for it.Just needed an idea like yours to support it while I work on the frame.
