And a 4 rows aluminium ? Like this one

Its written "transmission Cooler included (1/2-20 Straight Thread, Inverted Flare)"
What does it mean ? Do you have a link of what I can bolt to plug my 5/8e inch rubber pipes?

What is the difference between thermal and non thermal fan clutch ? I need a new one ? Where can I buy new fan blades ?

Thanks a lot !

The more rows a radiator has, the more coolant in the radiator, and it takes more "effort" to cool than a 2 row radiator. Get a 2 row radiator with 1 inch thick tubes. It will cool better than a 3 or 4 row with smaller tubes.

The holes in the radiator are where the factory puts the transmission cooler lines. It's not really a cooler, as it is more of a temperature stabilizer so it wont get too hot or too cold. After all, it is right next to 200* F coolant.

A thermal fan clutch has a bimetallic spring that engages the clutch and lets the fan spin with the engine when it reaches a certain temperature (instead of freewheeling when it's at a low temperature, in theory saving you fuel due to less drag on the engine), like the fan you have. I'm not sure why it's apart, I don't think they're supposed to be taken apart. You need a new fan clutch for sure. A non thermal fan is always partly engaged, but it isn't as much of a "Drag" as a solid fan with no clutch at all.

This would be the better radiator.

HOWEVER, the inlet and outlet for the radiator hoses are only 1.5" so you would need different hoses. Maybe someone with an Oldsmobile engine like you have can chime in on what they used for hoses that have a 1.75" on one end and 1.5" on the radiator end.

I will measure today but I think hoses from a 1971 Olds Cutlass with a 350 will work. As said a 2 core with 1" or larger tubes will cool better. Cold Case has 2 cores of 1.25" tubes.

Measured the 31.5" wide aluminum rad, look around 1.5", hoses off a 71 Cutlass should work. They may need trimmed but that is common with rad hoses.

I have a Champion Radiator in my 86'Regal and with the 307 the part numbers I used which are both made by Dayco are upper hose 70548 and lower hose 70936.

If the fan was damaged in the accident, replace the water pump. The bearing and seal are likely to be damaged.

That said, I realize on Tahiti you can't just jog over to the auto parts store...
