You're a good son, Jared. I'd be proud to have you as my son. 🙂👍
Thanks Jack. I appreciate the kind words. I'm just really enjoying seeing Dad get to enjoy his car after all this time, work and money.

The Galaxie made it the 286 miles to my step-mom's family reunion. The car got 14.1 mpg on the first tank of gas. Dad gave the experience an "A or A-". I'm thrilled to see Dad enjoy his car. The view from his hotel window....

He's learning.

The car made it home fine this morning and Dad gave her a wash. That's the longest trip the car has made since at least 1970. When Dad bought her, she had 1970 plates. Here's a pic my step-mom sent of Dad enjoying his car...

It's come a long way since 1989....

Jared,
I hope you've concocted some kind of photo album documenting your dad's build before and after., or is that an old school idea? Perhaps I'm thinking of the days when 35mm cameras, film and photos were a mainstay in photo taking. I guess I'm dating myself just a little.

I have a ton of pictures. We haven't made a hard copy photo album. It's not a bad idea.

I had tons of pictures of cars and trucks I did when I was younger all in album's and all lost to time. Now that I'm older I really wish I still had them now. Every so often someone mentions something I did years ago and I've completely forgotten about the car.

Eric,
That's the one problem with old photographs. Many don't survive the test of time. Last year an old girlfriend of mine sent me old photos of me with my old hippie van, dirt bike, and old Porsche in it's early stages. I appreciated getting them. They were over 50 yrs old and still in good condition. She knew I'd appreciate them rather than them deteriorating in a box in her closet.

No pictures but Dad came over last night at sunset and we aimed the headlights on the car. He and my step-mom left early in the morning when they were coming back from that trip to Mineral Wells for my step-mom's family reunion. Starting out, they were on some unfamiliar, unlit asphalt roads that weren't well maintained and the striping was so poor, they might as well have been unstriped. The headlights hadn't been aimed since the car was painted and they had a bad time. Aiming them has been on the agenda ever since but it's just been a matter of time. We spent about an hour, maybe an hour and a half working on it and they are very good. I wish we could do them how the shop manual shows to aim them but we just don't have enough level concrete with a wall that we own on the other end to set up the target areas. Still, Dad was happy with the results. The low and high beams are quite effective. Another small improvement. Time spent with Dad is well spent.

Last Saturday, Sean, Dad and I all went to out to breakfast like we have almost every Saturday morning for the past 15+ years. Dad came over to the house to pick us up but Sean wanted to get his car out too so I rode with Dad and Sean followed. He got some good pictures....

Still hard to believe that those cars started out like this in 1989 and 2006, respectively....
