DBW Throttle body

The factory 90mm DBW throttle body is a nice piece. If you go with cable what do you plan to use? $$$$
Agreed, Jegs or Holley but trying to get as much info as I can before I buy anything. I have a truck intake with a factory tb and could use it to save $$$ maybe with a shave first. I should be able to reuse the injectors also correct? Need to support roughly 575.

It's a NA L92 for now, I would like to have both if possible. I was just looking for input to help decide which route to go. DBW or DBC, Whats your opinion?
Either will work just fine. But either will need to be tuned correctly.

I prefer a cable only because it’s less to go wrong.

My 2009 L92 was the first year for flex fuel and has the bigger injectors. Anything newer also has flex fuel injectors. I’m not sure about the duty cycle on my tune but support for 575 hp does not sound unreasonable. Yes you can reuse the injectors and fuel rail. Why is 575 your target number? You’ll find quickly that this engine in a G body is a handful. Traction is a big issue.

I think both throttle bodies would be equal in responsiveness when tuned properly. The DBC is easier to install, just need a new cable, no need to fab a gas pedal mount etc. Also the aftermarket DBC throttle bodies are cheaper if you are looking for a larger on etc. Just put a WarrPerformance 92mm on my 5.3 turbo. Nice piece.

I will have to verify what size they are first. It's been suggested to run 42lb injectors to support my hp needs. I am learning about fuel injection. My builder said it should be about 575 hp, we will see. I am fairly new to Ls platform and trying to learn as much as possible. I haven't driven my car in 20 years, If I can actually pull this off, traction is a welcomed issue.

I guess I should add- P01/P59 ECM's (99-07) make hooking the cruise up easy as they run the same communication as the 84+ GM cruise switch.

Anything newer than 07 runs a different system and you need an aftermarket control box to translate the signals.

Getting a DBW pedal in a G body is doable but takes some effort. I used a stock 02 denali pedal and just cut the foot pedal off and welded the G body pedal on. Later Monte Carlo DBW like 09 have a pedal thats close to a bolt in but you have to repin some connectors if I recall.

What is your builder doing to the engine?

Full rebuild, reusing pistons, rods and crank. Texas Speed Stage 2 cam 229/244 .629"/.615", BT Ls7 lifters, upgraded springs, valve job, hv oil pump and new pan. Thrust bearing was going which required more of a rebuild, original plan was just to do the cam, spring and lifters. Oh well it's done now, heard it run on the stand.

What did you do for pedal?

What are you using for an engine computer? Holley or stock GM?

If you use a Holley just buy a DBC. Honestly the hassle of tuning with HPtuners isn't worth it for a one off build like your doing. Unless you have a ton of time to learn and have a very open mind with software, can find time with Carl at TCP in St. Paul to tune your car with HPT, or want to gamble with me to tune it (not that I am asking to, lol) HPT is tough. If you already have a harness and ECM from a part-out I MIGHT go HPT, but if you don't have a harness at all just go Holley TermX. Holley is simple enough to learn and if you want to pay someone to Dyno tune Steven K in Rochester is the local dude.

You essentially have to run a DBW if you use the stock L92 style computer. Holley or other aftermarket gives you the flexibility.

I used the Corvette pedal. I modified the factory harness and I’m using the factory E38 ECM with the factory T42 transmission controller to operate the 4L80. I’m glad I decided to keep VVT and went with Texas speeds VVT cam kit. This thing has a lot of torque down low.
