Declining interest in gbodys discussion

I couldn't agree more. I don't see how people can just drive their cars and have no clue how to maintain them or fix even small problems with them. My fiance knows more about cars than most of the guys she works with . She gave some guy a jump start the other night and she had to hook the cables up for him! What is this world coming to?

I don't understand how people can drive their cars and have no idea how it works. That would bother the hell out of me. I'd feel plain incompetent if I was one of those people whose knowledge of cars consists of "turn key, press gas, car moves". It's like, don't you want to know what's happening when you turn the key and press the gas? Nothing screams manly like having to ask a woman to jump your car for you. I swear if there's not a big, flashing light in front of peoples' faces giving them step-by-step instructions on everything, most people couldn't guess their way out of a paper bag. No one has enough sense to just figure stuff out on their own.

If everybody is getting stupider, who the hell designs all of these damn phones and computers?

Who wants to open the hood of a new car and what's the point...you can't even see the engine covered in plastic panels? This new technology is taking the fun out of the driving experience.

not allowed politics in here but the "smart" phone and computers attempt to do all the thinking for people. There was a report that people who get their new and information from the internet cannot tell if what they are reading is fake or real. 1+1 = 3

I don't think the interest is fading on G bodies, take a look at the price of these cars and they are going up every year

I actually kind of like working on new cars. Once you rip that piece of plastic off, they are pretty simple. I especially love working on OBDII Honda and Toyota 4 bangers. They are cakework on once you learn your way around them. They come apart about as easy as anything else. The newest ones are starting to get a little more complicated, but everything up to 2011 or so is pretty simple. The driving experience is a totally different thing because these cars are pretty hard to have fun in. They understeer like crazy and are sickeningly slow. I didn't realize quite how slow they are until I started driving my BMW everyday and then drove my sister's Camry.

Actually, Hertz gave me a Prius as a rental once, and I have to admit that I could not figure out how to make it go. I actually brought the keys back and asked them to give me a CAR. I found out later that for safety, you can't get a Prius to move unless your foot is on the brake first. In my era, there were no safety features except seatbelts and the lever you had to push to get the key out of the ignition. You got instant feedback if you accidentally cranked the starter with the engine running.
