Hello everyone,
After a long search I finally came across a rearaxle. Its a Ford 9" minus the center section(3rd member). It has the g-body control arm, shock, and spring mounts installed already, 28 spline axles, axles are chevy bolt pattern with bigger wheel studs, good drum brakes, Its been cleaned, and painted black. It was a spare for a circle track car, and has seen very little use. I can buy it for $400. Then I came across a trac lock 3rd member, with 3.50 gears, for $300. Alittle adding and it will cost me $700 for the complete rear end. I hope I did ok with my choices, Im scheduled to pick up the stuff this weekend. It seemed like no matter which direction I choose for a rear end, I would cost me around that money for a decent piece. Let me know what you guys think, thanks!!

sounds like a good pick up.

what spline is the center section?

Sounds like a good deal for sure..... 8)

You got took! Jk sounds like you found what you wanted, hopefully one day I'll get to swapping the rear in my camino. Congrats and good luck!

you have a great deal, if you can't use the large studs you may be able to find an M12 stud with a large enough knurl to fit the hole

yea its a stock 58" g-body width, not sure who did the welding, but the guy Im getting it from has 35 yrs experience in racing, so im guessing the rear end, and the work done to it should be up to par

I would be very surprised if it's a G body width, the G body rear is narrow and we always used a wider rear if permitted in the G body. If the rules allowed a ford 9" it's probably wider by an inch or 2. It will still fit tho so don't worry.

Sounds like a smokin' deal to me 😀
I paid $ 1200.00 for mine, minus the center section. It was a bolt in,although it was a little bit wider than stock,an inch or so each side. The drum brakes are way bigger than the stock ones, this made a big difference in stopping power. The 28 spline axles are also pretty beefy, they dont look like pictures of other 28 spline axles I have seen. Some are "Necked down" before the splines, but mine look like 31 spline axles.I've beat on them pretty hard over the last 7-8 years, and the last time I had them out, they still looked like new.
IIRC,I paid $ 200.00 for the center section and $ 300.00 for a Ford Limited Slip, the 28 spline limited slips are harder to find than the 31 spline ones.I put new clutch disk's in mine before I installed it,I think they were around $ 60.00.If you do rebuild the limited slip, soak the disk's in a mixture of gear oil & Ford Limited slip additive for a day or two, this helps prevent excessive "Chatter" when you first use it.
