Very nice work. Inspiring. Maybe someday my car won't smell like a musty old car.We have finally reached the end of a really fun project that has completely transformed our 86 Monte SS interior. The finished product looks stock, yet tastefully modified and it is a joy to sit in. A couple housekeeping things left to do such as picking out a radio and figuring out some electrical gremlins that the car had prior to disassembly. Once the electrical gremlins are sorted out, we hope to swap out the dark factory gauges in favor of aftermarket gauges with our exclusive mounting solution. Next up, we will be getting our hands filthy again with some suspension, wheels and tires. Stay tuned….
One thing we didn’t think about in the beginning of the project was the interior smell. Cars develop their own unique smell over the years which are probably a combination of dirt/debris, cleaners & shine products and the fumes that seem to emit from the sun beaten plastic interior (not to mention the smells us humans have emitted in the car over the years). The car had that distinct 80’s car smell when we started but now we enjoy a new car smell…it is a delight every time we open the door. We will probably shy away from cleaners and shine products and just stick with a damp lint free cloth as long as we can.
