Rare does not equal valuable.

Yknow what's rare? A 5 speed awd ford tempo.

No one cares.

As rare as they may be, a somerset holds little to no value over say, a Regal Limited. It's just another fancy, somewhat ugly cushy bouncy 1980s gm car. Especially that one, it looks like it's had a very rough life, even before the current owner got his mitts on it.

I love seeing rare cars hacked up. I think a stroker 455 Olds in a Hurst car or a 455 Buick in a Grand National or a 455 Super Duty in a Pontiac 2+2 would be great.

Here is one for ya - tastfully done ! As stated just because a car is rare doesn't mean $$$, My 84 Mustang GT 5 spd turbo convertible was 0ne of 731 build, and one of one on color and wouldn't pull good money

Not being a huge Ford fan, but I always thought the Taurus SHO was an interesting car with the Yamaha OHC V-6. Pretty fast sleeper from what I understand.

Apparently there's a new generation of SHO...and They ain't cheap either.

Sadly, I've seen more "SHO Classics" in the "3 Months to Crush" Junkyard than I have seen on the road in the last 2 years.

The New SHO's are all Ecoboost 3.5L's so extremely Cheap examples of these will be coming to a Craigslist near you over the next few years. Direct Injection + TurboChargers = Carbon build up on the intake valves.

So, what you're saying is that these newer series SHOs' will inevitably meet their fate like the early series cars. I have rarely seen the early style SHOs on the road. Certainly not what I'd consider a collectible car....special interest, perhaps.

I never drove one but my father did and said it was pretty quick... he owned a 2006 vette,a 68 camaro ss/rs which he yanked the 396 for a 427.

Sounds like your dad was no stranger to fast cars. He certainly had some nice cars.

Around here, the Manual SHO's seem to have all been bought by "that Guy" that puts on a glass pack and every shift done at redline as he weaves through traffic, so it was hard NOT to notice one on the road.

Putting a Turbo on one makes it a Monster. A buick v6 Head flows about 1/2 as much air NA as a SHO, and we know how much a Turbo makes that Lump of '60's Buick technology work.

I predict the Newer cars will be Be bought cheap and beaten on in a similar way. Because they are already Turbo and not Front wheel drive,, there is already a 12 second car hidden in 4000lb+ of girth.

I believe the SHO's were all manual transmission cars. At least the early series ones were. It sounds like the late series cars were also pretty fast. Something like 365 hp stock. That's no slouch.
