While I get your ability to build nice appearing MDF kick panel enclosures, I don't have the equipment or desire to acquire the tools needed for visually nice pieces. The OP's question about the Dixie Restorations 'speaker' door panel alternative is what I've been wondering about as well or if some 4x10's (or similar size) couldn't be incorporated behind the carpeted section of the factory door panels for an 'unseen' improvement. Not trying to win any sort of competitions... Just want better sound from a basic set-up (stereo; 4 speakers [2xF; 2xR]; amp; small sub [8-10"] ).

I don't get what you're asking. If using the Dixie panels, I'd reinforce them with MDF; you can get precut rings off the internet. Behind the factory panels? Meh, it could work, I guess. The problem with the factory door panel is the switch ledge. You either cut it or it blocks the speaker.
I was asking why putting a speaker behind the panel or like the Dixie panels wouldn't work. Seems they would/could work but wouldn't be on the upper scale as far as sound quality goes (like adding MDF pods/enclosers might provide).
just wondering if have a super mind and you remembered what you posted back in February or if you had to go back to look at it........ 🤔
I can tell you I got this far, it takes lots more work than I had thought it would but is possible
I've been looking into the Dixie Restoration speaker door panels & noticed something odd. From my eyes, the seam where the original lower panel overlaps the upper panel doesn't appear straight in their installation pics yet the lower panel seems square as far as installed to the door itself.
The first pic from the install instructions shows an installed panel on the door. Look closely @ the seam where the lower panel meets the upper.
In the 2nd pic, the highlighted yellow line is the seam in the upper panel. The white line is the actual upper edge of the lower panel. The gap between the upper panel seam is larger @ the front of the door vs. the rear.
Can you guys see where the seam line runs @ the front & then is non-existent toward the rear in the 1st pic or are my eyes playing tricks?

That is quite possible but you would think that everything was 'spot-on' for a pic used in promoting their products.
We took the picture when the car was getting built initially and decided to use it as an installed picture on the website. The upper door panel wasn't completely down in the front as someone noted.
