Duals....X pipe vs H pipe

Here is my exhaust, sounds deeper in person. I fogged the motor, that is why there is so much smoke.

I have not seen any pre made h pipe kits anywhere. For me, I want an H pipe but im gonna have to buy a kit that has an x pipe then have an h pipe installed.

565bbchevy I need to wrap my header collectors and fabricate a heat shield. Any recommendations on which wrap to get?
I have used DEI and Thermo Tec and they both worked well, I would avoid the cheap no name brands the ones I have seen are thinner and the edges tend to fray and I doubt they will provide the same protection.
I also made aluminum heat shields in the back where my fuels lines for the engine and nitrous cross over the 4' tailpipes as a precautionary measure even though the tailpipes don't get that hot.
Anubis your car is immaculate underneath.

I was leaning towards the x pipe set up because a magnaflow website stated that X pipes are better for "flow", but after reading this thread, I'm now leaning towards the H pipe set up, because I prefer the deep growling sound over the "high pitch" sound...

Does headers play any factor into all of this?

I believe an X-pipe configuration is going to flow better since an H-pipe is basically a balance tube the helps equalize the two sides but an H-pipe is typically easier to install especially on an existing exhaust system since you just have to cut out a section on each side and most add on kits have a straight and bent crossover tube to cover any clearance issues with the driveshaft.

Thanks, Frank. Hooker Aerochamber's, they sound amazing when I wind them out. The 70 also sounds good but much tamer sounding at idle. Factory dual exhaust with the glass pack style angled mufflers without tail pipes. I will do a sound clip on it tomorrow.

Here is mine with an H-pipe set up that I built, an X-pipe is not an option for me because the pipe off the collector is 4.5"
Skip to 1:10 if you just want to hear the car and not me talking.

Through my personal research Ivery come to the conclusion, that X pipes offer better flow with maximum Hp gain. While on the other hand the H pipe has a much deeper classic sound. Not as much Hp gain but more gain in torque. H pipes have more back pressure for added boost. Basically it boils to the individual, and what you want from your build. Both are great, but I prefer the H pipe. I'm not concerned about max hp. I'm sitting 4 inches off the ground!:respect:
