Whew! I didn't want people to think I told you to get a different carb! Did you get your choke figured out?

LOL...I really think the choke works fine, i just need to drive the car more...i think it needs to get use to be turned on and off...in reg it in january, so its going to be getting alot of driving time...sorry i havent posed any pics...soon......thanks

I had an eddy 1407 carb and had nothing but problems with it giving me a bog off the line no matter what I did to try and tune it....Went with a Holley 750 4779 model and the problem was solved......only saying 8) JMO here, go with a Holley!

I use a 1406, and trust me you won't need a 750cfm eddy on a 305. That is way overkill and 9 times out of 10, a 750 is too large for most performance 350's.

This is good advice. 305 = 600cfm. Hell most 350s only need 600-650 CFM unless theyre real screamers.

I too have experinced the bog in the 1406. Lots of people have. I've changed everything, I did mess with the accelerator pump and it helped but still it have a bog which sucks... I still like edelbrock carbs mine just sat for a long time and I never rebuilt it. But if I had to choose I would have a well built quadrajet before an edelbrock. That's what going on my pontiac motor.

Thanks guys for all the info you have provided for me....im staying with my Q-jet!!!!

what do you think of a q-jet on a blown(roots) 355?

I prefer the two barrel stock carb from the 70's. Excellent throttle response and NO BOG. Many times in my old beater cutlass back in the day I would dust a bigger motor bigger carb car because I had quicker throttle. JMO...... 🙂

Bill, you mean the old 2GC? Yup that was a very capable carb. In fact you could play with the jets just like a Q-jet and tailor the carb to your motor. I had a 72' Catalina with a 2GC on a 400. It worked great.
