You're in for a way bigger headache than you think. Contact Everyday Performance and get yours rebuilt. What makes you think it's bad? It's a 305; an Edelbrock carb isn't a magic bullet, quite the opposite, actually.

You have a computer control system in an 86 Monte

The carb,, distributor and trans are all hooked up to this system

If you remove one you have to remove all.

Then replace them with non computer control items and a lock up for the torque convertor

Do you still have the computer working? This is what will decide what to do. If it is, do as stated & contact Everyday Performance. If not you'll do as Turna stated.

I have a Eldelbrock that I can use to save money ans I also have a distributor I can replace the old one with,,,all these are parts I already have and didn't go out and buy,,,,what is the purpose of the lock up kit for the transmission?

You will burn out your trans

So there is now way to just replace the carb,,but the brackets for the tv cable and let the computer control everything else?,,,,,,the distributor and the transmission?

The computer ties in the transmission lock up to the carb & distributor to tell the it when to lock up & unlock. The TV cable basicly just works the gear kick down.
