So basically I have to replace the cab, distributor, and a lock up kit for the transmission?,,,,,,what about if I use a turbo 350 transmission and do away with that 200?

If you are computer controlled and want to stay that way then I would get the carb rebuilt, if you don't want to be computer controlled then you need a non CCC carb, distributor and also a lock up kit so that the 200R4 works correctly.
IMO buying a crossmember and running a th350 instead of having a 200R4 with overdrive is going backwards and the kit is probably cheaper than the crossmember.
I am curious as to what you feel will be the benefit of running the Edelbrock over the quadrajet?

I need a new carb and don't have a lot of money to play with and also not a fan of quadrajet,,,,,I have a 79 monte carlo with a bad motor that I can use for parts. It has the 350 turbo and the distributor I can use.

I would still buy the lock up for the trans even if you run the Edelbrock and your distributor or you can also buy an Ebay distributor that will be new and work well

But it does kind of sound like you are getting in over your head by doing this to a stock 305 that will gain no advantage in performance or driveability.

I honestly don't care about the overdrive I just wanted to see what all was involved to switch the carb and what bracket I needed for the tv cable,,,I have all the parts from a 79 monte to switch with and do away with the computer,,does it sound like a lot? yes but I don't have 300 bucks to rebuild a carb I don't want anyway. All I wanted to do was put a know good carb and replace the bad one and what was involved in that.

What happens if you can't get the Edelbrock to run right after swapping the carb, distributor and trans?
