Edelbrock RPM Intake fitment on 79 Cutlass

I have an RPM that I had .600 milled from the carb mounting flange, and it still wouldn't fit my 87 442 with 442 air cleaner. I think there is even less hood clearance on 81-88, but don't have 1st hand experience with 78-80. Went with an A4

How about a 1" drop base with a 2' filter??

^^^Glad both of you Olds guys agree, because that's my plan.

I wonder if that will that be tall enough to clear the choke and vent tubes.
Yes, it clears both, did on with my drop base air cleaner on my 88.

Used a 3" filter but it should still clear the vent with a 2", vent is fairly short. With the hood supports cut, using a scoop, I used a 3.5" tall filter. He can use the air flow top as well if he wants more flow.

I was thinking a 1" drop base with a 2" filter might leave the lid sitting on top of the vent tubes or have interference with the choke opening, a filtered lid might reduce the internal clearance even more.
