EFI Fuel Tank

The 2025 Calendars are HERE. Two different editions, two different sizes, and a digital package!! Starting at $12.97US
My boat floats just fine thank you.

I do see that the newer aftermarket tanks(ie SPECTRA) have a better sump design than previous units, it may be close enough compared to OEM tanks, but not exact. Hence why i suggested going with the TANKS inc one, seems to be a much better design internally and competivly priced, i just want to be able to go as low as 1/4 tank without issues, regardless if just im cruising, autocrossing or road/track racing.
I just looked at Tanks Inc pictures on their site and their baffle doesn't look to be any taller than the current Spectra tank.

How much power are you guys pushing to need dual 450 LPH or dual Hellcat pumps? I am thinking one 350 LPH for maybe 450 HP and 500+ ft-lbs, down the road.

A single 340 lph supports well over 600 wheel horsepower on the Turbo Buicks. It's more than enough for just about any naturally aspirated LS/LT engine. Dual Hellcat pumps is probably over 1000 whp on a forced inducted V8.

Have a look at the baffleing behind the fuel pump baffle... it looks to almost fully enclose the fuel pmp and gauge sending unit in that area, much better IMO.

Not sure when i'll be converting over to EFI, but when i do, the TANKS INC unit i've shown is the one i'll be trying, of course i'll be getting that fuel pump module along with the floaless fuel gauge sending unit from them as well.

I have the Spectra tank and it looks like it has the same exact baffle and if it doesn't it is about as tall as that Tanks inc tank and doesn't require proprietary sending units and fuel pump carriers. This is the Spectra baffle and it is very tall. Probably within several inches of the top of the tank. It duplicates the original GM baffle pretty closely. Here is the plastic baffle removed from my original tank in my 87 Grand National that rusted out. Last picture is the old Spectra tank and the cheap Chinese tanks found on Ebay. These are the ones that cause the starvation.

Good info... thanks for sharing.

So, are you suggesting that even with the OEM plastic baffle, while not perfect in design, was still suseptable to fuel starvation as well... so if i decided to try the spectra tank, i could possibly have the same issues as with an OEM EFI tank?

I never had a starvation with the stock Buick tank. We never had a starvation with the tbi Monte Carlo tank in the Monte SS I built for my father. I haven't had any starvation issues with the Spectra tank either. Keep in mind that I don't autocross any of them. It would be an interesting test though. I would also be curious of how each one reacts on a hard launch with 1/4 tank of fuel.

My only complaint about ALL of these aftermarket tanks is that it can be very difficult to fill the tanks quickly without them spitting back. Guys on turbobuick.com have swapped the oem GM filler necks on to the aftermarket tanks and that fixed it.

Thanks for the info on the spectra tank. Ordered the 306c via Amazon. I can vouch for the info shared above that the baffles appear to be deep and are in 2 zones from what I can see. The entire width of the tank is split (front to back) with a tall baffle then the area arround the sending unit has a deep surrounding baffle. It's a challenge to take photos but here you go. Also, made in Canada for ~150USD delivered is tough to beat.
