Efi in the aftermarket

I will chime in. I converted mine to F.A.S.T. EFI system. My car runs better, faster, more reliably, and better fuel economy. Absolutely no downside to the swap. I had the benefit that I started w/ a Turbo Regal so I already had an EFI Tank and pump. I had already swapped in a 383 SBC w/ a Holley so I had put a bypass regulator to bring pump pressure down to 7psi. To go back to EFI only required a different fuel regulator and the actual TBI kit. I later upgraded my pump to flow more fuel.
Bottom line most of your "Main" vendors in the EFI arena all make a decent kit now. Stick with systems made in the last 5yrs if you are new to the EFI world. They all have autotune which some are better then others depending on the configuration of your engine and combo.
The learning curve for EFI can be difficult in the beginning because some of the carb mentality must be unlearned in order to properly grasp EFI and tune it well. The fuel system is usually the large cost surprise and over-budget culprit to EFI installs. The other issue many have with EFI reliability is wiring. So many just graft it on to an old car, with old wiring, limited and poor grounds. EFI MUST have clean grounds and clean signals or it all goes to hell in a heartbeat!
So figure out what you want and need the system to do. Then buy a system that will do that in the simplest form. Quite often you can find lightly used systems that are much cheaper then new.

I am not one to give advice on this. I am going to go with a Holley Sniper. My resons for it are. I am new to the tuning and fuel injection stuff. I want it to as simple as I can make it. Holley has great support. Holley has forums full of people who will help you. Holley Sniper will control timing. And of course cost. I am going this route to get my feet wet. Once I have a handle on how this all works and the mapping I may move to Multipoint injection set up with a Megasquirt controlling it. The downside I have found with TBI systems, they don't use a knock sensor and in order to have one it gets pricy. Maybe the highend ones do, but the cheeper ones don't. Just my thoughts on it.
