El camino rear widebody& raised rear quarters

Tuesday night after 8:00 I got a g-body 45 degree body line bent into the 69 charger upper quarters & getting the bedcover to line up with it. Pulled off rear window & bed trim. Started figuring for steel rear visor & deleting rear window trim. Figuring on slightly extending sailpanels for more of a fastback look & making them come to a point rather than a flat edge. May use upper pair of front fenders turned upside down for my extended lower rear quarters.
Starting to look like a plan.

Got some initial fitting done & a few parts tack welded together.

Here's a test fit of quarter panel held on with 4 screws. Upper charger panel also just screwed on . cuts just tack welded. old wheel has over 3" extra clearance. Cardboard & black tape in place where sail panel will get extended.

Been trying to get back to the project. A little more done since last pic. One holdup has been smoothing out all my hammer & work marks on the huge quarter panel before attaching the top. My cheap English wheel isn't good enough as is & I'd need help handling the part in it.
Never had a pneumatic planishing hammer, so decided to make a handheld version mostly from scrap laying around. This way I can move the tool around on the part by myself. As life would have it, run out of mig gas on a Sunday before finishing it, Welded a temporary turnbuckle in it with no welding gas & gave it a try on a sample. it flattens out hammer bumps pretty good, so once welded up & tested, hopefully it'll do what I need on the quarter panel.

Pictured above is one of my first toys as a small kid, a section of railroad track to beat sh*t on. I'm sure it'll outlive me.
Also pictured is a homemade shrinking disc, which is simply a wore out dewalt concrete grinding disc I cleaned up. A shrinking disc is simply to make friction to heat metal in a spot to tap on while hot & quench with water to make it shrink. Saw no need to buy one, skill in using the damn thing is the hard part anyways.
Here's a rear shot of the new side to bedcover line. I'll refer to the surface quality of the drastically reshaped metal as the before planishing pic.😒

Got the upper quarter panel extension part partially tack welded. Will get a little planishing before completing weld bead.
