Electric fan shrouds

Mine is a 3 row and it cools great with the dual Spal fans. Even on a hot Texas summer day in 5PM heavy city traffic with A/C on, it stays under 195.
I'm controlling the fans with a 2-speed setup using 3 relays and a Dakota 2750 controller. I'm also using a trinary switch on the A/C system which turns the fan onto high speed when the high-side pressure gets to a certain pressure. The Dakota controller has an input for hooking up a trinary switch lead.

Btw, I would not buy my fans from Ledfoot. They couldn't even tell me what brand they sold. So I bought my fans separately. Through the years I have had many troubles with offshore made fans and now I will only use Spal or Maradyne.

SPAL is one of the best when it comes to electric fans. do you have a specific self-made setup for controlling the fan speed, or was it a ready-made solution?

The 98 to 05 Dodge Stratus and Plymouth Breeze fans fit similarly and pull 40+ amps and move plenty of air. Mine I bought over 10 years ago used for $40 from a wrecker and still going strong.

I designed the system myself. The 2-speed circuit is based on a schematic from a later model GM vehicle service manual.
The circuit puts the fans in series for half-speed operation and in parallel for full-speed operation.

For my convenience, I made this diagram to make it easier for me to wire it all up. The "L" and "H" wires route to the Dakota controller in my dash panel.

Here are my 3 relays. They are Hella weather sealed relays and my connections are all done using uninsulated connectors which I crimp, solder and cover with heavy wall adhesive lined heat shrink tubing.
The relays are mounted using 10-32 rivet nuts and stainless button head machine screws.

Power for the relays comes from the Blue Sea fuse hub I installed. The hub allowed me to make many electrical upgrades over the factory wiring and do away with the 2 fusible links down at the starter.

I mounted my Dakota PAC-2750 fan controller behind the dash panel. I'm using a 160 degree thermostat and have the Dakota unit set to turn the fans on to low speed when the water temp hits 185 and turn on high speed when the water temp hits 195. The controller will also turn on high speed when the trinary switch A/C high side pressure gets high enough.

I had buddy of mine fav this one up for my cutlass. only thing I would change is bottom corner by gearbox should have been notches a little bit just to make removing and installing easier

Kind of hard to see here but I run a Griffin 3 core with 1.25" tubes then I built my own shroud and mounted 2 fans off a mid 90s firebird to it , never gets hot even in 100° Nebraska weather. Switching to an electric water pump and bigger Spal fans now that I'm building a F2 Procharged 406 for it.

Hey guys!
Thank you all for your great input and informations! It helped me a lot to upgrade my Lemans.
I bought the Frostbite kit (rad+shroud) since they were the only ones still delivering outside the US during the Covid19-Crisis, and they had a great offer too.
Here's some of the pictures of the upgrade-process:

Step one, out with the old, assembling the new:

I had to cut the shroud-openings a little larger, since the fans are 12inch, and the openings were for 11inch.
I chose to put the fans in via thread rivets.

Test-fitting the assembly several times:

And of course, manufacturing custom clamps to hold it in place:

And finally assembling it all. After a few test runs, the car is all good now to go for a hot summer 😉
