i jus picked up a set of the firewall to core support braces..

Any better pics of just the cowl mounting. One problem i can see is my inner fenders have a lip thats bent up next to the bolt hole I need to use so I can't just bolt them in without hammering down the lip or grindin it off. How much of a difference do these braces make? Thanks

makes a big difference and for me i had to drill the inner fender cause i had no holes where to brace touched at..

will the cowl to radiator support braces work with the curved fender to radiator support braces? i'm guessing yes but i havent seen any pics of them used with the curved ones, just the straight ones.

Can't see why they would not, same diameter tubing.

On my wagon, I ran one of the cowl braces over and one under.

Just seem to fit better to me , your mileage may vary.

seen a 79 regal with the blue front and rear sway bars.. is there a reason y they r blue? looks factory

if anything is painted any other color than black under a g-body you can bet its not factory, it may be a factory part, youst someone painted it to show it off

very good information. I have a cutlass that iam selling and will surly take of those front bars b4 I sell =)

Hey , do I win anything for the longest running thread on the forum, 2+ years and counting.
And it keeps going! Nice thread! I had no clue how much bracing there is and the affect they have on our gbody's!
Before I read this I just happened to grab some bracing the other day from the junk yard, rear sway and fender to core. I first was just looking for a rear sway bar and happened to see one on a GP and took it. But as I was under there, I did notice the front crossmember GP bar. Are they a hard find? I couldn't get it cause I didn't have a wrench to get in the whole in the frame, What size is it? 15mm? after reading this, I'm going back and getting it and want to be prepaired! Also, Is it much of a difference going from the stock front sway bar to the GP sway bar? Anyone have the part numbers for all of the GP front sway bar bushings or can I just walk into any O'Reilly's or Pep boys and ask for them?

I have another unorthodox idea that I may try. Being that the fender-to-cowl braces are a little harder to find I think I'm just going to make them. I have some 3/4" EMT conduit laying around that I want to try. If I blow it out my *ss no big deal since it's like $3.29/10 feet. It's galvanized and you can even get it in red if you like

I was thinking about doing the same thing with the core support "X" braces and trunk braces, just in a different diameter. Whether it's as rigid as the factory....I don't know, but it's cheap enough to give it a shot.
