some conflicting info online about these. The block # appears to be '68-'70 only, but the head # indicates '73-'74. Don't look like they we're ever swapped out.

Yes there is an EGR valve. Good call. I don't think that block casting website is 100% accurate. They have some errors about the 403 webbing, too.

Don't sweat the small details. You're dealing with 45 year old stuff. Smog era engine failed, then an earier block went in. Get it while you can, buy Bill Travato's book, build some sick Olds power, and make us Rocket enthusiasts proud.

RIGHT ON!!!

My dad's block has that same number, his was a 71. Dug into it a little further. We had it easier, it was just a block and some parts, but we narrowed it down.

Pretty sure both my 76 blocks had that number, that is not accurate. Those smog era Olds 350's were very good, choked, so not enough power to hurt themselves and we'll made, especially compared to their flat cam chebby cousins in those years. Flat top pistons, a bowl hog on the exhaust and a better cam will equal or better a 68 to 70 350, depending on auto or manual.

This thread reminds me of an episode of Scooby Doo.
