Fixing up 1984 Monte Carlo SS.

Just seen this thread. The LS will be quite an upgrade from the 305 lol. Hopefully you threw a cam in with those headers. How's the budget hanging in?

Regarding the suspension upgrades, all of them can be done after. Get it on the road and enjoy, then you'll have something to compare it to once they are completed.

I've recently started on an '84 SS. Mine is not in as good of shape as yours though.

Keep the updates coming!! 🙂

Yep, quite an upgrade 🙂 . Nah, didn't do anything to the motor other than the intake.
But with a tune and exhaust it's going to be interesting to see how it performs. Later
if the engine needs attention I'll probably have a holistic approach to rebuilding it.

Budget is good. I believe it's working out great so far actually. So much bang for the buck
with the LS swaps and the quality of work he is doing.

I guess the next step will be paint when the funds allow.

Congrats on the '84! I was really surprised at the attention they receive. In the limited
time I drove it people came up to me often to check it out.

Yeah I had stopped and seen them at SEMA before buying as well, but same deal they wouldn't give me any info. This year I didn't even stop to see what they had, I will be happy with what my setup looks like anyhow. But must say I am very curious to see how the Auto Meter unit will look in a gbody, loved what I saw at SEMA of them but obviously weren't shown for the Monte but says its available

Yep, those looked cool. One of the reasons I went with the Dakota was the analog gauges and possibly the easier integration but we will see lol.

New to me shifter to match the new transmission. He is also going to install keyless entry/ remote start/ alarm. Also the Dakota Gauges gear selection sensor needed to be added for the display. Everything else worked perfectly.

Still working out a few bugs with the cruise control and ac. Then it will be tuned. But I took it out and floored it a couple of times. It feels like it should have been that way all along. The transmission shifts great and the engine is fantastic. I was expecting it to shift but it kept on revving and all was good 🙂

Thanks! I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but the front end is up higher than the rear because the new engine is lighter. So I have to do something about that lol. Plus I'm sure the brake fluid and maybe brakes are original.
Perfect time for drop spindles and LS1 front brakes while you are at it

Exactly as I said the ls1 brakes are your best bang for the buck, I went all the way with the C6 ZO6 brakes all around but that was crazy money. Belltech has a reasonable priced set of 2" drop spindles and can mount up the ls1's with some brackets from Kore3 without spending a ton on it
