Wow that is what I want. But I'll have to let a shop do it I suppose. Can it be done for 5k?
I am guessing at about $4,200 for my running engine but I have some nice upgrades like Comp Pro Magnum rockers and comp pushrods, stud girdle etc. going a cheaper route will bring the parts price down some but paying a shop for labor is probably going to be expensive and I have only ever paid for machining not assembly.

I don't know what your mechanical skills or budget are but if you can assemble a long block I went with this from Tri Star for my budget build Regal project.

And then added a set of these aluminum heads along with a hydraulic roller cam and should be at around the 325-350 HP range.

I shopped around for the best prices for name brand rockers, pushrods etc blasted a used RPM air gap intake and have a refurbished Holley 670 and this thing runs great.

What kinds of things do I have to do to integrate the new engine to the car? Things like ECM, transmission (TH350), radiator. Sorry for the noob questions.

I am not using an ECM so I have a standard distributor and a Holley carb but since I have a 200R4 trans I use an aftermarket unit to control lock up.
I have a Champion 3 row aluminum radiator and I am using a new thermal clutch with a new 6 blade fan with aluminum blades for cooling.
The engine itself is a basic R & R for a 305 SBC, engine mounts and accessories all carry over.

So you are having someone install a LS1 in it?
Yep, a friend down the road has done several.
He found an LS1 from a WS6 firebird. He also
Is getting a rebuilt 4L60E that has had the weak
parts upgraded. Looks like it will all work well
together even the Dakota gauges. Ac, cruise
and such.
