Already swapped out that body mount it was rotted, and your right that HVAC drain is a poor spotAnother common problem spot is the passenger side #2 body mount rusting out due to the ill placed HVAC drain.
View attachment 255476this spot is common to rot on these old g body’s, luckily this is the only spot the rest is mint, just took the grinder to the weld that flaps the frame over and split it apart, going to get some 1/8 in for the repair

Weld something in there?, I knew that would be an issue when I made my patch piece because it didn’t match where the cap was supposed to beTry to scallop the right angle corners to eliminate them under that plastic cap. Right angles are stress risers so you don't want them.
Maybe little gussets? Even 45 degree angles are much stronger design than 90 degree angles.. Other possibility is to weld another rectange plate in as an extension for the patch, then grind it out into a rounded scallop shape. All the factory openings in the frame are rounded to minimize stress risers.Weld something in there?, I knew that would be an issue when I made my patch piece because it didn’t match where the cap was supposed to be
