image.jpgthis spot is common to rot on these old g body’s, luckily this is the only spot the rest is mint, just took the grinder to the weld that flaps the frame over and split it apart, going to get some 1/8 in for the repair

Another common problem spot is the passenger side #2 body mount rusting out due to the ill placed HVAC drain.

Weld something in there?, I knew that would be an issue when I made my patch piece because it didn’t match where the cap was supposed to be
Maybe little gussets? Even 45 degree angles are much stronger design than 90 degree angles.. Other possibility is to weld another rectange plate in as an extension for the patch, then grind it out into a rounded scallop shape. All the factory openings in the frame are rounded to minimize stress risers.

that's first time hearing this, this from AC drippings, rain run off or both? this summer i'm gettin my bodymounts upgraded to polys.
