Thanks guys. Gloss black tells no lies. There's still a little work left to do on both of them. The green one needs some scroll work as well as the handles and I haven't got the Cadillac emblem on the black one yet. I'll get pics up when there's progress.

Did you have to replace the door seals and if so where did you find them ?
The old 55 Montgomery Wards frig I have the seal is falling apart, haven't been able to find anything locally.

Hey tc, if you're not really too concerned about "original" when we revamped the old servel at camp, a door seal from an extended cab pick-up did the trick nicely (few mods of course).

I didn't do anything to the seals. The Kelvinator seal was still pretty soft and is attached to the inner panel so it'll be fine. The Frigidaire had 2 seals. The outer has been replaced at some point and was still soft. The inner had to be destroyed to get to the screws. It was REALLY brittle and probably wasn't doing any actual sealing anyway. I'll probably just put some foam tape over the screws. JC Whitney used to sell lots of different styles of rubber weatherstripping by the foot.

Ya know it's funny, the entire time you've been working on these, I've been walking by a fridge in our shops bathroom that reminded me of this thread. Today I finally took a better look at it and had to laugh at myself. Look familiar?

Twins!
If you lift the lower tip-out up and out it should have the build date stamped along the face of the bottom crossbar. Mine's a '41.

It looks like Driven might be going into the restro fridge business. Looks like he's got a delivery truck project on the go...

The mail truck? Man, I'd rock that thing all day long. That's just a truck I ran across on a CL ad a couple years ago. Thought it was kinda cool so I saved it.
