Hey, Jack! Ya, a little bit has been going on. I got busy on a couple jets for members and actually FIRED the Wagon! Pretty excited. I got a call for a job up at Conoco-Phillips. There's a turn around and, since I'm kind of a mercinary type with a few credentials, I gotta go up there for 40-50 days, 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. I think DOT or DOE specs us to take a day off every 14, that means I gotta take at least three off. Here's some boat p*rn for you guys tho. I will lurk on my cell phone and watch with envy!!! Keep the good work going!

Some fuel cells I'm fabbing

K. I gotta run. We will be back soon!!!
Matt!

I escaped for a day!! Have not had ANY time to even lurk! Working 108 hours a week, I think I have 9 or 10 more days left, then back tomy life of lunacy. I sit here at 5:25 A.M enjoying a Jack and Coke, reading up on the haps. I think I left on the 12th of March. Have not had a drink, or eatin a home cooked meal since leaving. It's strange being home! Signed the lease on our new shop and will start moving in soon. here's some refinery p*rn for you though!

The main project. The large column in the middle goes on top of the tower wrapped in scaffolding. It's 208" high.

Refinery piping is a mechanical marvel. I love it.

Um...wow. Are you allowed to discuss the type of work you were doing or is it classified?

And welcome back.

It's commercial, just run of the mill stuff. Almost any clown with a TWIC card and a pulse can have access. It is a MARSEC area, so the security is pretty real.
On the other hand, on the way home, in my state of delerium, I spied the front of a '65 Corvair sitting under a tarp. I couldn't resist and had to pull in, since there was an older guy at the mailbox. We struck up a conversation and turns out he was the original owner. Never wrecked hard ( A trailer backed into it and it was never fixed) Original paint, not driven since '74. We uncovered it and it is a Corsa! I couldn't believe it. A 4 spd Turbo Corsa. In all original shape. I negotiated a deal and it's now at my house. I don't know if I'll keep it and fix it, or sell it for a small profit and let someone else enjoy it. I just figured I ought to save it from rotting. It only has a very smal amount of rust. About a total of 2" along the top of the windshield. The rest is in great shape and the interior is perfect, even the headliner!

And my Buddy's '70 Ford Crew Cab! These were only available to the gov't. I have never seen one! Two wheel drive. He slipped in a 99 7.3 Litre with a 6 speed, made it a dually and added a foot to the bed to fit the 99 framework. It's an Awesome build!

Hey Matt,
Cool refinery pictures. Glad to hear that you got the big block in the wagon fired up. Man, I like that Corvair Corsa. I haven't seen one of those in like 40 yrs. I believe the turbo version was 180 hp as opposed to the standard version which was 110 hp.
I think there was an in between model with 140 hp which was in the Spyder and non-turbo Corsas.
Is that one a runner? It looks like it's been off the road for a long time. I'd cruise it.

That truck project is wild. Nice work! It's definitely different.

Thanks Jack! Ya, the refinery work is brutal, to say the least. I think the truck gets fired up today. I gotta take the wagon to the exhaust shop, drop the Corvair off and get back on a couple boats I took apart before the refinery. I have a complete assembled 140 motor with a single 4 BBL that I may throw in the turbo car. I got all the parts and it's all new, just unassembled. I have the Wagon, The Tahoe and don't forget the Sunbeam to do too, so I'm full to the hilt. Somethings gotta go. I love the corvairs, but thats the easiest to let loose, since I've only had it for a day. If I take a wrong turn on the way to the shop and end up at my Buddy's body shop, that Corvair won't make it out without a full on. I wouldn't mind that, but my wife already thinks I'm a loon...

Been busy working on various projects. Still setting up the shop, lots of work. A few cars have rolled in, this '59 vette is a stunning example of a car done right. All Art Morrison chassis, mechanical fuel injected, Tremec 5 spd and an interior that is too inviting. This one may head to Barrett to finance another build. Meanwhile, I think I cooked the converter in the wagon over the weekend towing the Habit at 90. Maybe time for a 4L80E?

I'll take some tomorrow. The underhood is unbelievable. I feel like paying the owner for the privilige of working on this car.

Was at the shop all day, screwing around on the Sunbeam, totally forgot to take pics of the Vette. We won the 8.0 second class at the CDBA tho! Ran an 8.005 against Cody Rose, who ran an 8.007! It was a nice win for the White Flag crew! Going fot the championship. A couple more races this year and we can get back to making money!!
