if the temp is at 165º and the fuel is boiling you have a problem with the routing of the fuel line.

I had the same problem in my Buick. I blocked off the exhaust crossovers, problem solved.

I routed my fuel lines away from the block with rubber line not metal line. And i put one a 1 inch phencolic spacer ( plastic ) when i got my edelbrock it boiled bad and my car would never get hotter than 170 degrees its just todays crap gas thats doing it. Doing these tricks to mine i havent boiled since.

Heres the spacer i used

I had a 1/2 inch for awhile it worked pretty good. I had too because of hood clearance but when i got my cowl hood i got the bigger one

I'm gonna get one ordered from summit tomorrow. It is the summit brand spacer I'm gonna order so it should be fine. I'll also reroute my lines and see what happens.

I have used many different heat shields and spacers and have found that wood laminate ones are probably some of the best at insulating the carb from heat soak.
The spacers I have been using for years that I like better than the wood ones are made by Jomar Performance and he uses a phenolic laminate, I remember him telling me it is like cotton sheets with resin which makes them far stronger than wood but with the same or better insulating properties.
I had a Jomar 1" 4 hole tapered spacer but I had to change to a 1/2" when I added my Zex nitrous plate since I can't raise my carb any higher but it still does a great job.
The plastic spacers do a better job than an aluminum heat shield but any of these are better than only having a gasket between the carb and the intake and for obvious reasons avoid aluminum spacers or adapters.
