Do you have to drop the tank to get at the sending unit? Or what should I test first?

there are two wires coming from the sender, one pink that has a connection you'll see under the car near the rear bumper and a ground wire that is grounded on the body.

This pink wire? Lol. And ground you can see is there.

Just in case you do have to drop the tank it would be a good idea to spray the bolts with a good penetrating oil

That goes to top of sending unit? Wonder why he left it off.. and thanks its been undercoated and well kept care of :)

If it has a aftermarket fuel pump installed will it still be the same? Can hear it in the tank when cars runnin

I would try to use something like an old antenna to see is the wire isn't sitting on top of the tank.
