so i am replacing some worn fuel line on a car i just bought and im switching over to AN stuff. anyway, this is how the previous owner had the regulator to carb line set up. is there a reason for this routing? is it to give the line slack for the motor to move? Was going to just flip the 90 at the regulator and then its a straight shot to the carb... would that work?

I would. Looks like they might have done that just for ease of valve cover removal.
+1 this car has a solid tappet cam too. Also keeps it from routing directly over the headers.
