I have a 1979 Chevy Malibu Landau and I'm noticing water dripping from the bottom of the door where it closes at the rocker panel is there a drainage system on these doors to let water out that get in like from washing the car?

I believe that there are drain holes in the bottoms of the doors.
Just get underneath and have a look.

Yep there are drain holes

They are tiny, clog up easy and will "seal" up if you painted the doors

Every year or two I crawl under and spray each drain hole with a generous dose Fluid Film to hopefully keep them from clogging .
And also to hopefully help keep the rust at bay ...

maybe a chunk of rust is covering up the hole

pull the panel and stick one of those telescoping magnet down there

In the meantime spray a generous amount of WD40 into the drains to temporarily slow the rusting. Try flushing out with a garden hose spray before WD 40. When and if you decide to tackle the rust WD 40 will be easier to remove in prep of bodywork. If you use Fluid Film or an oil product you will have problems cleaning the area for painting. Fluid film is one of my preferred methods for rust control.

Have this happen lots on my Malibu. Yes small drain holes in the bottom of the door.

First trip I took the car on in the rain, I must have had 3 gallons of water in the door after an hour of driving in heavy rain on the highway.

+1 for Fluid Film. Had my truck sprayed in the fall and it really does keep the rust at bay. I'll be spraying the truck again this fall.
