I haven't run across the gas monkey guys yet (They were at the big bend open road race a year after I won the 140 mph class -and they blew it up in the 125mph class. Needless to say it didn't make the show), but I have stumbled into a "misfit garage" shoot. Reality TV it is not. There was a director and a sound man and 3 cameramen to film 2 idiots picking up a pair of Model A doors at the Decatur swap meet and and walking 15 feet with them. "Cut!, try that again!"

Given that I know its all fake drama, the Gas Monkey guys are actually pretty good actors for having no formal acting training. Way better than many other reality shows... like misfit garage. That show is painful.

I like GMG for what it is. I don't think I've ever watched one in which Richard didn't make me laugh at least once or twice (I'm always wondering where my beer assistant is too). Personality wise, they seem like they could be a fun bunch. I always prefer shows with less prescribed drama and more technical substance.
I kinda like the brit guys on Wheeler Dealers-they actually seem genuinely excited about what they do- I never watch Misfits, they drive me up the wall

Agreed. I think Aaron Kaufman makes the show and has some serious talent. If it wasn't for him I'm not sure I could tolerate Dick Rawlings narcissistic personality. Wo hoo!

Discovery in hinting Aaron is getting his own shown after this season. Not sure how GMG will fill the design hole that will leave. Richard has some pretty bad ideas of what is cool (what was cool in Fort Worth, TX circa 1985, is still cool in his mind). Jason is great with stock restorations, but will have to step up big time to fill Aaron's shoes. Discovery will probably turn GMG into a Keeping up with the Kardashians style personal drama show instead of a car build show.

I have stopped watching Gas Monkey Garage. Aaron is definitely the highlight of the show and extremely capable at what he does. Richard has a love affair with himself. I'm glad to see that his old painter is doing very well on his own.

The Misfits are a freakin' joke. They're an insult to ones intelligence.

I enjoy the Wheeler Dealer guys. They're genuine. Edd is a good mechanic who seems to know his sh*t and explains everything he does down to the principal of how things should operate.

I guess I turned into an old fogey. Everything on Gas Monkey Garage, the wheels are too big and the cars are too low.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought it was about an old member here who I think had the name gasmonkey and had an el camino. He hasn't been around for a long time and I thought he may have reappeared...:(

Good ole' Sue. I believe she's Vietnamese...she is funny as hell. I'm sure the show had brought in a lot of business to her shop. Stupid round eyes...they'll pay up.
