Gbody oil light and battery light issue

Hello I’m new to this gbody game
I have a 86 Buick Regal limited
My alternator recently went out I replaced it now my oil choke light and battery light stay on but once I press on the brakes they turn off but I can still see the the battery light but very dim any suggestions? I would really appreciate any advice

I am in Seattle, Wa., now, but I grew up near you in Cypress.
As to your question, assuming that you did nothing except swap the alternators, I can't see any reason for the new problem, except the possibility of electrical corrosion below the insulation of the smaller wire coming off the battery positive terminal. If that checks good, maybe pull that alternator back out and have it tested.

The alternator is bad. It will probably test good, but there is something wrong in the diode/rectifier assy

If you have a alternator rebuiilder local to you I would return the autozone alternator and buy one from the rebuilder. You'll get a better alternator and and better after purchase support
