getting hot and cold air

On my 82 Malibu i am getting cold air thru the upper vents and hot air down low at all times. I am not really familair how all the flapper doors and whatever work in the dash. Any suggestions on where to dive into first?

What happens when you move the mode switch? If nothing changes, then the cable has come loose or the door is broken. Try to google the heat/ac system for your ride and see what images you can come up with. Chances are, you will see a diagram of the system and where to look for the door(s). Good Luck!
