I have known about this for 8 years and did nothing about it. It never really hurt so I figured why bother with an operation I might be able to do without. Bad idea. Now I have to drop everything and arrange an operation as fast as I can. Then I'll be flat on my *ss recovering as Summer slides by.
I hope all goes well! Unfortunately my family is prone to hernias and I have had 3. The first time I tore the left side while lifting a boat cradle. This was 23 years ago and at the time they didn't use the mesh method so the doc stretched the muscle across and stitched me up. That operation gave a whole new meaning to the phrase "blue balls" and I had massive swelling. Recovery for that event was 3 months and it left a 4" scar. After that miserable experience you can imagine that I was very upset when it tore again in the same spot 2 years later. That time I had it fixed correctly with a mesh. It's been good since but 2 years ago the other side blew out and I have another mesh there. Here's a tip for you.... If the nimrod anesthesiologist insists that he gives you a $900 nerve block injection into the bundle of nerves in your torso punch him in the dick. 30 minutes after the surgery I was in severe pain and 2 months after the operation I still had pain from the nerve block injection not to mention my insurance didn't cover it. I hope you have a better experience than I did.
