Getting old sucks

I also have a hernia that I should get fixed but it doesn't bother me much, being self employed I might look at setting something up just before next Christmas so I can use that time to recover without having any court dates to juggle. I should get my hemorrhoids fixed at the same time so I can be a perfect A hole for next year....🙂

here in Ontario in my area the wait time is about 3 1/2 months for a hernia operation after you see the doc then the specialist so I would basically have to start soon to have it scheduled for this year. Last time for something else it took me 6 months before I saw a specialist who when through all the procedures and gave me tests I never asked for or needed so he could pad his bill for the gov to pay. After that he said he couldn't figure out what was wrong so he wished me luck.

Steve,
I've heard, outside of the states, long waiting periods to be able to have medical procedures done. It might be in your best interest to pre-schedule your operation ahead of time.

There's so much corruption in the medical industry...it's incredible. Anyway they could fleece the government, they do so.

Yay, single provider care!!!!
Might as well get it done in Mexico; it'll be faster and cheaper. Rent a beach side villa for a couple of months and telecommute.

I have heard of people traveling to various countries (Singapore, India, Mexico, etc.) because the procedures are cheaper and the wait is not as long. I would honestly be a little reluctant about which country I'd choose for a procedure.

However, I do like the way you think....👍

So- all you hernia guys- how exactly do you "push it back in"?!? Right now I have a lump there of what the Doc said was fat. He was unconcerned about it. But he said if my guts came out again to give it a push. And if that didn't work then emergency surgery was indicated. Where do you push it?

SSpev- how exactly does it get pushed back in?!? The ER Doc said the same thing, just push it in. When he did me he folded the cart so my head was down low and my feet up high. Then he felt around and when he pushed it in it hurt like hell but then when it was back in the pain was gone. Do you just push in the general direction of the gut or can you feel the opening?
You could see mine sticking out just below my sternum. I was about the size of a silver dollar. epigastric i think. I'd stretch back a little and rub and push and it would go in. Mine looked small compared to many. It can be bad if it strangulates the intestines. Could cause gang-green. Some of my "friends" called it my spare stomach.
The hernia was nothing compare to my pancreatitis. Put me in the hospital for 5 days.

Well, I don't have a hernia . . . 👍

I just can't stand being worthless . . . though worthless would imply that I actually have a choice and choose to be worthless.

That is certainly NOT the case as I have no choice in the matter and there is no cure.

But to think at 38 I finished an entire house by myself while working full time and, at 58, I was forced to retire early because I cannot manage to defy gravity generally 3 days in 4 now which is fundamentally why the extra surprises uncovered in my build thread have so enormously slowed productivity.

But, I am still breathin . . . I'm told that's still a net positive! 🤔
