Gopro or similar recommendation?

I like this thread, I thought about getting a gopro but with the price it was too much for what I wanted it for so I forgot about it...until this thread popped up with an affordable alternative

I think it is the same kit that Mike posted above. I does not appear to come with a suction cup mount so I will have to get that separately. Does anybody want to talk me out of it before I buy it?

Looks like a good setup. It seems to be a copy of the GoPro design and will likely fit the GoPro mounts which will be really handy. The ability to use your phone as a viewfinder is definitely nice. For the price I would say it's worth a try.

Guys,

I'd like to buy a Gopro type camera to do videos similar to what Opie just posted. I'd like it to have decent sound quality. I'm not very knowledgeable on these things. I did a quick eBay search and see the Hero 5 appears to be what is popularly out there but at $389 it is quite a bit more than I want to spend. Can anyone give a recommendation and school me on this a little bit? Thanks in advance.

If you want a cheap go pro with good quality go with the gopro hero + near 100$
Take it from someone who knows what they are doing, im decently successful on youtube and honestly if you wanted to upload these to youtube i bet you could get back what you paid in ad revenue if you are consistent enough.
