lookin at some timin chains an it askin me wat type of cam(oe roller)...how can i find out...or would it be easier to swap motors

thanks man...now my delima is i have a 350 in my backyard..its been sittin for awhile.. i heard it before i bought it...now would it be simpplier to just drop another motor in ..or just to do the timin chain

timing change is an afternoon job with a few beers inbetween.....unless your real quick r & r'ing an engine you won't get that done in the same time...

but I'm curious why you think the problem is the timing chain?...it sounds to me like a problem with the carb.

i work on cars ..well mine quite often...do u have any tips for me wen it comes to chngin the timin chain...

nope...timing chain is pretty straight forward but there is not really any shortcuts I know of. I have a serpentine set up so that would make it easier since there is only one belt and non of the accessories are tied into the water pump removal.

I would consider a few things tho before I changed the timing chain, how many miles on the engine and is the cam worn?

all you need to do is pull the water pump, harmonic balancer, timing cover, then the cam sprocket and chain. unfortunately you may have to pull the oil pan to remove the timing cover.

so with me chngin the timin chain is this the time to change my cam as well

if the motor has 100 000kms or more its time to look at replacing or checking the chain

no you don't have to change the cam because your changing the timing chain I was just asking because it's unusual for a chain to skip a tooth especially when it was been driven the way you explained so I was wonder what condition the rest of the engine is in and perhaps it would be good reason the drop that 350 in
