I'm not a huge wagon guy but man this is a nice one. Not a gack green with fake wood look trim with green interior, like a few of the 70's cars. I say a 301 Turbo block stroker build with SEFI, 2004R and 8.5" or 9" Ferd rear would be cool😎. I agree, selling as is should bring good money, the G body high prices are finally here, especially the mint ones like this.
A cheap LS install ain't good looking and a good looking one ain't cheap. I'm in the Pontiac 400/455 camp and keep the Pontiac all Pontiac, worst case remote mount turbo on the 301 til it blows.
I'd say again, if you're doing it for enjoyment and to keep for a long time, have at it if it's what you want.
If you are thinking it'll bring a return and you'll make more money, then sell the Colorado, sell the wagon, and come out ahead of ripping up one to hurt your net return on the other.
Very cool, that’s a well loaded wagon. Power windows but manual locks?
I think the LS swap appeals to more people, if done right, but you probably won’t make any money on it that way, if selling leave it as is it will appeal to the most people who want to keep it OG or modify to their liking. Definitely would keep the body/interior as is or just restore what needs restoring then have fun with the drivetrain and/or suspension.
I think it boils down to the guy doing the work. An LS swap will definitely up the fun & reliability factor if done legitimately. A hacked job won't do that but a decent install by someone who has done a few LS retrofits (or has access to someone that has) can be a strong selling point.
A boosted set-up would indicate this isn't his first rodeo. I look forward to see how it turns out.
6.0L with LS3 heads and intake to keep it nice and low
LS9 head gaskets
Nasty Cam
Double valve springs
A mash up of truck and camaro stuff for the front drive
