Cool. Your're a good welder/fabricator.

Is the trans solidly mounted, or do you have a bushing in there?

I am in the process of putting a carbed ls3 in my 88 monte. i used bmr mounts and cross member. the bmr mounts move the engine forward and up a little. i used the holley ls conversion oil pan, which fits very well. it doesn't hang below the cross menber at all. i have lots of clearence at the heater box and steering shaft with 1 7/8 long tube headers. i stuck with a 200 4r trans. no issues with the original dip stick tube rubbing on the firewall. i have a c6 accessory drive on it with a high mount compressor bracket. i'm not sure if you ran the low mount compressor if you would have issues rubbing the frame or not. with a carb i will have to run a 2" cowl hood the way it looks. we are working on the fuel system now. i can't wait to fire this bad boy up.

trans mount has the factory 200-4r mount on it, and thanks got the compliments but i did have a buddy help me out with the welding, I should have said "we" instead of "i"... 😳 I did notch the crossmember and weld it though...

More work done this weekend, My buddy Nate cam over and helped notch and fiberglass my heater box for coil clearance. I cleaned, painted and modified my 8.5 for the rear LS1 disc brakes upgrade.. Some pics of the box notch just gotta paint it now.

I really pay attention to the use of "I" and "We" in people's posts. I guess it is because my car is just average, worse in some places because I have done virtually all the work on my car alone, or with my 12 year old son.

That's a creative way you solved your HVAC issue...... ...Wishing I had an 8.5...

I know should pay more attention, but i did give credit where credit is due. I have help from alot of buddies who are car guys as well, so they come and help, we get drunk and the BS'ing ensues... Even my GF and kids have helped, makes it sorta of a group effort.. And my ride is below average... bodywork wise :| The HVAC turned out easier then i thought especially when two minds are working. and i wished very hard for a 8.5 for a VERY long time and about 2years ago or so i found 2 in less then a month!! doesn't your GN have one?

Very nice work on the HVAC box. People don't realize how easy it really is until they just jump in the water with both feet and get it done. I was surprised myself.

If I were you before putting it all back together for good, cut the stud part off of the rear coil bracket bolt that gets close to the HVAC box. If anything it will make it a tad easier if you ever have to remove a valve cover, if not save the good work you guys did from a hole being poked into it.

Thanks! I do have that in mind.. also going to shorten the bolts that hold the rear coil so it comes off easier if i ever have to replace it
