I'm trying to get motivated on my GP's build lately and in the process of getting my maroon dash painted 85 GP color Dove Grey. I will try to post more pics in my dead GP build thread. MY original GP's glove box lock was broke but it still would open the glove box after a few turns.. I am in the process of replacing my stock crackfree cuz of few broken parts in the glove box latch and lower dash mount brace.. From when my buddies crazy ex when he owned the car...

I thought of repairing them a 2 part glue but decided to spray another dash in good shape instead. i decided to redo the maroon dash i did have some issues removing the lock... I looked at some sites but found the following video..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CiL725UwUg So after removing my stock glovebox lock it came apart but had some damage, how would i repair it and reuse it on my new non a/c glove box??

So how would keep my stock glove box lock to match my key , here are few pics of before and after pics of my dashboard. i would've have loved to keep my stock colored dash but i want everything to work right.
grey dash after i removed the harness:

looking good there :D I painted my new dash from light grey to dark blue using SEM paints and it tutned out great. One thing I noticed while doing the dash swap, On my original lemans dash the "seam" that goes all around the center portion was smooth but the one from my bonneville dash has fake stitching to dress it up. A useless detail but it still looks good.

Yeah mine has the "stitching" all around. i need to get some SEM paint but haven't been able to find the correct Dove Gray paint... How did you get it prepped and redone? Also does anybody know where i can find the fuzzy stuff that's one the door vents? I kinda want redo them before i button it up if possible. Wish i could find the same colored dash.. :?

Hey Ernesto, progress is looking good :D For my dash repaint I first started with a good wash. I used green VIM creme with a small brush, the kind i use to scrub the white letters on my tires. I did this 3 times and finished with a tooth brush to get into all the nooks and crannies. Once good and rinced and dry, i cleaned it again with acetone and let it dry for a couple hours out in the sun. I then sprayed 2 coats of SEM adhesion promoter, followed by 4 coats of SEM paint. I let it dry in the sun for the afternoon and waited a week for the paint to harden before I installed the dash.

That diff look so cool!!. What brackets and parts did you use for your brake swap? I would like to do something like that someday.

For the 8.5 that's under my GP i used 98+ plus LS1 backing plates and abutment brackets along with rotors and C6 Vette calipers though you could use the Fbody LS1 calipers as well. For the 7.5 Monte SS rear we just swapped out the LSD along with 28 spline 442 axles and added the Summit racing Girdle.. For now Dru is keeping the Drums and later doing the LS1 rear disc upgrade... BTW Thanks for the diagrams you sent along with the parts! I have resorted to them a few times in putting back together my dash... I scrubbed my dash down with with paint degreaser and a scotchbrite pad but am going to follow your steps as well. I hope to get the paint this weekend
