Not a whole lot to update, but I will. Supervenza gave me 3000 trouble-free miles, then started to leak at the JBWeld patch. Honestly, I didn't expect it to last with just a smear over the hole. I racked it and used a wire wheel to clean off the JB and figured I'd drill and tap the old hole, then plug it.
Surprise! It's super eff'n thin and there's a hardened steel component right behind it so a tap can't work. I bought a fine thread set screw and made it a self-tapper. Then I backed it out, cleaned everything, and epoxied it in place. I also installed a new axle seal.
With that back together, I tackled another issue. There is a common issue with the 1AR/2AR engine family to develop a timing chain rattle on start-up. This one began about 10,000 miles ago. The culprit is the intake cam phaser, and it's actually fairly easy to replace.
One thing I can praise this car for is that it's really clean inside and doesn't use a drop of oil. I use Valvoline synthetic on 5000 mile intervals. I'm certain that this routine helped get Supervibe to 406,000.
This morning I did a dump run. My property taxes include 500 pound of landfill use every month. This is literally the only time the Smell Camino gets used, once every 6-8 weeks.
When I got home, I hit it with the pressure washer and wiped it down, then parked it in the shop. Shame, it deserves a better home.
A few weeks ago, my daughter had the old septic system back up. My dad and I dig it up, cut out a section of pipe, and found it totally root-bound.
I had a crew come in and run a new drain field. They roughed it in and mostly cleaned up the site. I ran over this afternoon and grabbed the 8N from my parents' place to finish smoothing it out.
There's been some other stuff between work runs, but that mostly catches you up. Ribs are 95% now. Still not dead yet.
