Got the steering shaft installed and its sloppy. You can wiggle the heck out of it. It acts like a lot of play in the steering. I think I'm just going to try to buy a brand new one. Sucks I think I spent $50 and all the sanding/cleaning time on a wore out part. LESSON LEARNED!

Thanks a lot but gonna get a fresh one. I've got my original one still here but don't want it to start leaking and spray over my hard work. Lol

I drove it half way down my block in reverse then put it in first and got up enough speed to go into second. Its got a high idle but tries to die in gear like a vac leak but can't find it. Brakes feel spongy and probably need reblead. Trans shifted smooth too.

So I'm taking this whole week off from my part time job to get this car driving. It's getting to be 40s in the morning and too cold to ride my motorcycle to work. Goal is to get the front end, decklid, and bumpers painted and installed, headliner, then windows. Some things that need to be done can wait and be finished while I'm using it.

I went and insured it and got a color sticker for the license plate last week. It has been black stickered meaning uninsured. I was basically keeping it current till it was driveable. I get a call from my insurance company yesterday telling me I left out a number in the vin. Sure enough. Checked it with my registration and its missing a digit. Either my title agent or OTC got this screwed up. Was told by both parties that this may take 30 to 90 days to get done. With a part time job now, not having a car is killing me. Its getting to be 40s in the mornings and riding a motorcycle in the cold SUCKS. I was so mad that I cleaned my garage real good. Scouring craigslist for a beater G body but nothing yet.

After all that work, please don't drive the Salon in the salt. We can find you a beater S-10 pickup to sacrifce to old man winter. Talk this guy out of the second truck - still a deal at $1400. Southwest Airlines is having a fare sale...
