Have Electric Cars finally killed muscle cars???

Do you think a LS1 ECU can be deactivated remotely through a backdoor other than EMP (i.e. destruction)? Honest question. I haven't heard such a thing used for law enforcement yet, but it wouldn't be a stretch IMO. Maybe the 1998 tech is a sweet spot before such mandated backdoors....
They are already designed and are out there on trials.

Hotrodders' of the 50s-60s-70s were the hackers of the time.

EV's won't kill the car enthusiasts, or the 'muscle' cars, they'll just change. People will still try and take whatever is made and push the limits of performance. Not so different that the guys who overclock and mod PC to get a few more frames per second. They're doing the equivalent of chasing a few hundredth down the 1/4 mile.

There is a ton of infrastructure lacking to support a wholesale shift to EVs. As has been pointed out, if one were to convert the amount energy consumed by gasoline and shifted that demand to the electrical grid, we'd all be sitting in the dark like it was 2003.

I really don't have an issue with getting an EV. For 95% of my driving it'd be fine. Doubt I'd go all electric with my vehicles. Or if I did, the rare times that I want to do a major road trip I could just rent a car. Right now my issue with EVs is that the selection is crap and the price premium is way too high. Over 60k CAD for the cheapest Telsa model 3. Not that I'd buy a Tesla anyway. But anything that seems half decent is at least that price.

I don't mind solar either, even in our climate. What's wrong with having your own on site generating capability? I live in the country, when the power goes out, I have to budget flushing toilets. No electricity, no water. Plus then I have to babysit my sump pumps. Sure, I have a generator, but honestly I get real tired of all the maintenance etc with all the small engine stuff.
Time for that military surplus buys. Multi-fuel truck sized genny!😁

We actually have 4 different types of power generation, Coal, Natural Gas, Hydroelectric and Wind Power. Our infrastructure sucks, it would not even support 50% EV's. Outside of infrastructure, range is the biggest issue. For example, to go to my Wife's Specialist appointments, it is 300 km one way, so 600 km minimum. Also what would the range of the current EV's be in -40, a lot less.
As a friend from NS told me, they love carbon tax up your neck of the woods. I feel for some of the Bureaucratic stuff y’all deal with.

Yeah, the carbon tax is steadily going up. We are up around 10 cents on both gas and dieseI now. I believe they go up in December again. I personally would like to see Hydrogen stations go up as an alternative but that will also require massive infrastructure, basically a pipeline. It would mean more jobs constructing and maintaining it. A Hydrogen electric hybrid makes a lot of sense and allows the ICE to survive. I love Toyota's prototype V8 with the cool collector on top of the motor. It was within 20 hp of ther current V8, over 400 hp.

You have seen their car farting app, right?

I clearly do not pay that close of attention to Tesla. Glad to hear there is some humor on their end though.

I see this starting to go south, which is a shame bc I've actually been impressed by how little politicks has reared its ugly head.

Carry on and keep the rules in mind. Thanks.
