I hope you aren't running 30A fuses off those wires.

20am with the 12ga wire. So it got towed back to my house. Started looking at fuses.....starter cable 20amp fuse blew. Put a new fuse back in and had power again.

You need 40A or 50A fuses.

Also I'm running a new 4ga which is the same as the old starter but its a tad bit longer than original. But after looking at the starter info I seen this diagram...looks like I should've used 2ga wire from the starter to battery? 5ft long cable.

This is my current setup. Which is almost the same as the original setup. 4ga @5.5 ft (old setup was 5ft) from starter to the battery. 2 12ga wires with 20amp fuse (old style fuse unkown) attached to the same starter stud as the 4ga wire and goes to firewall .Then the little stud on starter has a small wire going to firewall. All wire to and from starter are routed just like original

Yeah 1 gauge wire if possible is good to use, I have it on my 88 CSC. I actually am feeding the alternator with a 4 gauge wire. Try a 25 or 30 amp fuse.

Can I just add the bigger fuse in that 12ga wire or do I need a bigger gauge. And would the 4ga wire I'm using be the issue for the fuses blowing?

You should be OK with 12 gauge wire. The 4 gauge is useable just less capable than 1 or 2 gauge wire.
