13- Oxygen sensor signal fault-signal too low / open left oxygen sensor circuit (Dual sensor models)

12-Diagnostic mode; no distributor signal to Electronic Control Module; System PASS

21-Throttle position sensor (TPS) - signal voltage to high

35-Idle air control (IAC) system problems - can not set desired RPM or idle speed actuator (ISA) carbureted system problems

45-Rich exhaust indicated (Left side on dual oxygen models)

So you have 2 O2 codes, 1 of which is rich like I called it. . . What's really boggling my mind is why you'd set foot through the door of the smog ref with all those known issues then ask for help and not lead with the codes?

I’ve known it ran rich from the get go, so I asked around and done what I’ve been told to do first. (I’m no mechanic) this is a car I mess around with on the weekends. I’ve used the internet, books and other people’s suggestions to get me to this point. My bad for boggling your enormous brain, by not leading with the codes. I’ve asked for help because I’ve thought joining this forum would be helpful considering I’m not a gear head that has knowledge of every engine out there such as yourself. Thanks for the diagnosis on what even my unintelligent brain figured out all ready! Ha! It’s RICH!

Just a thought. You might see if your life can accommodate an auto mechanics course at a local community college. If the Covid cuts us all a break, you may be able to get back to in-person learning. California condemns those trying to resurrect an 80s survivor. Don’t give up just yet.

By the way, kudos for not sniping back at the sarcasm. Keep plugging away.

It wasn't sarcasm. When you ask for help passing emissions and don't mention that the CEL is on that, to me, is a big big deal. That's an enormous piece of information to hold back for such a question. Saint you will get the info you seek, don't be so quick to get butthurt. Have you tried replacing any of the relevant sensors that are called out?

Is this a thing on here? People just talk sh*t to talk sh*t? I was just looking for some pointers on where to possibly look next. I’m better of going to my local CC at this point.

I'll suggest to revisit your carb. Knowing there are differences between Kali & 49 state carbs, did you get a rebuild kit based on model year or the stamped carb number? Replace the broken TVS, get all the vacuum lines reconected in the correct locations. Then you might have to get back into the carb to get that running leaner. Sometimes back tracking what you did might be what is needed.

I don't know what state you in and my comment may mot be helpful to help you. Do you have classic car tags? Some states make the vehicle emissions exempt with a classic car tags. In my state of CT I am exempt with classic tags. Being that some of these emission parts for these cars are not always easy to find.

I apologize for being smart *ss! Maybe I misinterpreted what you were saying. I replaced the O2 sensor, Throttle Position Sensor in the carb. I’ve been told recently to check timing as well. I’m just not sure of the next place to continue the search.

I do live in Colorado and from what I know I got the carb kit needed for this 2 barrel carb. I was working on the vacuum lines yesterday and my boss mentioned maybe I need to go back to the carb, mark it where is at now and play with it to see if I can get it to pass he mentioned that it might run worse but might help me pass and once I’ve have to set it back.

Yeah I looked into it. I’m in Colorado, I guess we have strict emissions going off of Cali. I tried to get an emissions repair waiver as well you have to spend at least $715 in repair/components and fail 2 emissions test. Which I did, but it was still running high so they even denied the waiver because they considered it a dirty polluter haha he said if I can bring the numbers down I can try again.
