Buy the cheapest shocks you can find. Should be able to get a pair for $30 or so on closeout
That's the plan. Already have them in my shopping cart lol

Thats what got him in this mess.

If it was bump steer related (as in any of the geometry issues that cause bump steer) they would have always been there. He hasnt changed much of anything that causes mechanical bump out on compression.

He doesnt need to put the one shock on the other side, he will know its junk as soon as he takes it off. Its gonna make a sad noise as it compresses by gravity since there is no gas charge left in it.

Put some bilsteins up front. Two birds at once

Reason I said cheap is because he said he's putting coilovers on it next year. No sense in throwing out a $100 for two or three months of driving.

Just curious why you plan to go to coil overs? If you like the stance, you may be as well off with good front shocks, unless you plan to adjust it for race day?
The reason I say this, is I had a friend just go through this. He had a chassis guy tell him if he plans to set it and forget it, he may as well not spend the extra money on coil overs.

Could the side that is sitting lower be rubbing the fender well on dips, causing a drag condition to turn the steering wheel? Before you swap out those dampers measure your front fender heights. Curious where it is sitting and if it's leaning.

That's probably the case. I know it does rub a little bit. I just gotta figure out why it sits lower on that side

Assume nothing, verify everything. Something is not right, and it just might be something you assume is OK. That’s my experience with Mr. Murphy’s handiwork.

I plan on checking everything out - hopefully tonight - when I remove the shocks. I ordered nice new Monroe's to replace the cheapy O'Reilly's I have in there now. I know I said I'd be going to coil overs but who knows if that will happen yet. Things change.

Once I get the shocks changed I will try to do an alignment since I'll have the camber/caster gauge by then. This is all depending on what I find during the inspection.

I have an ‘84 MC, so I have a personal interest in what you find!
